Civil War Adobe Voice Assignment Number Two

Before beginning this assignment, you should have already chosen your topic by putting your name on the sign-up sheet and conducted research on that topic. You will use our classroom iPads to create a presentation on your topic. Open up Adobe Voice, choose a theme for your presentation or start a blank one and give your presentation a title. You can then choose a layout and music for your presentation. Your presentation should include images and some text. Record your voice with each slide as if you were presenting in front of the class. You may want to write a script first to follow along with. Your presentation should be between 4-7 minutes long and needs to teach your classmates at least five things about your topic.

Once you are finished and satisfied with your presentation, save it and share it with me through e-mail. You will also want to send a copy to your own e-mail address, so you can access your presentation anywhere.

There is an example Adobe Voice presentation for you below. Your presentation should include more research and should fit within the required time amount. The example is just to give you an idea of what your finished product will look like.

Go to your personal blog and write a reflection post on this assignment. Your post should include why you chose the topic you did, what you learned that you did not already know, and why that topic is important when talking about the Civil War. You should also include your presentation with your post. There are two ways you can include your presentation. You can either include a link to the presentation or embed it into your post as I did above. The instructions for each are found below.

Link to your presentation:

  1. Open your Adobe Voice Presentation from your e-mail.
  2. Copy the url address from the address bar on top of the page
  3. Click insert link on the tool bar while composing your post
  4. Past the url address and type in the text you want to display
  5. Follow the link to make sure it works
Embed your presentation:
  1. Open your Adobe Voice Presentation from your e-mail
  2. At the bottom click on the </> Embed
  3. Copy the code it gives you
  4. Go back to your post composition window and click HTML and the toolbar
  5. Put your cursor in the area you want to place your video and paste the code
  6. You will want to change the height and width within the code to make it fit your post. I used height="300" and width ="400" You can play with it to decide which size works best for you.
  7. Click on the Compose button to see how your post will look

Creating Your Own Blog Assignment Number One

Your first assignment in this class is to create your own blog. You will use this blog to hand in assignments, share your thoughts with your classmates, and give your classmates constructive feedback. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to set up your personal blog.

As you use and make posts to your blog, you need to follow some simple rules:

  1. Think about your audience. You should gear your posts toward an adult audience. Your teachers, parents, and fellow students will be looking at your blog.
  2. Make sure you read and follow all directions for an assignment.
  3. Always proofread before you post. Check your spelling, grammar, and punctuation. You should also be careful about the images and videos you choose to post. Make sure you look at copyright laws and always give credit to your source.
  4. Final check: Would you be okay with your parents, grandparents, future employers, and others throughout the world knowing you through this post? If the answer is "yes", then publish. If the answer is "no", then keep editing. This is YOUR digital footprint.
